Karma Come On Get Him - !!!NEW!!!

Continuing the anti-Trump parodies (because it's deserved and I won't stop until he's gone)

Karma chameleon – karma come on get him
He’s been in office since Jan ‘25
Since then the US has taken a dive
He’s done wrong (done wrong) and been convicted
He’s done wrong (done wrong ) but doesn't care
(He) don’t like to (like to) be contradicted
But fair is fair, but fair is fair

Karma, karma, karma, karma, karma - come on - get him
Cos fair is fair, cos fair is fair
Cannot allow him to behave quite so atrociously
Want to be free, want to be free

Can’t stand to hear his foul words every day
Hardly anyone around wants him to stay
He’s has trashed (has trashed) the economy
His tenure (tenure), has been too long
He’s racist (racist), and he’s a bigot
Want to be free, want to be free

Karma, karma, karma, karma, karma - come on - get him
Cos fair is fair, cos fair is fair
Cannot allow him to behave quite so atrociously
Want to be free, want to be free

Every day is like more torture (more torture)
We’ve had enough (had enough), and need a cure
Every day is like more torture (more torture)
We’ve had enough (had enough), and need a cure

He’s done wrong (done wrong) and been convicted
He’s done wrong (done wrong ) but doesn't care
Don’t like to (like to) be contradicted
But fair is fair, but fair is fair

Karma, karma, karma, karma, karma - come on - get him
Cos fair is fair, cos fair is fair
Cannot allow him to behave quite so atrociously
Want to be free, want to be free

Karma, karma, karma, karma, karma - come on - get him

Great Again - !!!NEW!!!

Nearly caught up. Time for the first of September's posts.

Whole Again Great Again not by Atomic Kitten
Taking people from off of the street
They’ve done nothing wrong
Still they must face defeat
They shouldn’t be gone
Won’t admit you’re wrong
Um, how’s this make us great again?

And if you see a normal human man
He’s hugging and he’s kissing
(A)nother human man
You say that’s a sin
Don’t want it to win
How’s this make us great again?

You think you’re totally adored
But the truth is that you’re really abhorred
You think you’re the one, but when all’s said and done
How’s this make us great again?

Think that Putin really is your friend
Don’t realise he only
Just serves his own ends
Shouldn’t help him out
Makes us all scream and shout
How’s this make us great again?

You think you’re totally adored
But the truth is that you’re really abhorred
You think you’re the one, but when all’s said and done
How’s this make us great again?

You’ve (the) wrong priorities
Think guns are never the problem
In our cities
So many lives are gone
And you just let it go on
Oh how’s this make us great again?
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa

You think you’re totally adored
But the truth is that you’re really abhorred
Although you think you’re the one, when all’s said and done
How’s this make us great again?

Oh, whoa

You think you’re totally adored
But the truth is that you’re really abhorred
You think you’re the one, but when all’s said and done
How’s this make us great again?

Oh, you thought you're the one, but after you’re gone
How’d this make us great again

From The Mind of Merc - Voting

Sometimes I find my mind wandering over various eclectic topics and occasionally I am inspired to write some of them down. Today I was thinking about the importance of using your right to vote.

(No - this is not going to be a Suffragist diatribe and yes - it's still on this month's theme of the tangerine manbaby in Washington.)

One of the biggest current concerns I think is the possibility of thinking that the prejudiced, discrimatory, and, in some cases, frankly disgusting actions and executive orders coming out of the White House are at the wish and approval of the majority of Americans as, obviously, the President is voted in by the majority.

This is wrong on 2 key points:
1) Donald Trump did not win the popular vote - he got in because of the first-past-the-post electoral college system they have in the US
2) The majority of US citizens do not agree with his policies, views or actions

What Donald Trump's presidency proves is what happens WHEN THE MAJORITY DON'T VOTE.

America is currently discovering to its cost that assuming an unsavoury, unpleasant candidate will not get in purely because of their unfavourable characteristics will always be wrong as minorities (e.g. racists) always vote. So, if you don't bother, your inaction constitutes enabling behaviour as you're just holding the door open for the minorities to let their candidate (who shouldn't even be considered) waltz right on in.

But, as shown by the graphic above, that does not mean his viewpoint is preferred and it does not mean his actions are universally condoned so it is likewise incorrect and detrimental to tar all Americans with the same brush.
It is important to remember the majority of Americans are as appalled by us at the circus of horrors currently being enacted by the POTUS and his cronies and that they may be louder but they are not stronger so log as we do not let them or allow them to be.

From The Mind of Merc - Elections

Sometimes I find my mind wandering over various eclectic topics and occasionally I am inspired to write some of them down. Today I was thinking about elections.

One of the main things that always worries about elections when you have a perceptibly awful option that people presume that awful option doesn’t stand a chance and consequently they don’t bother to vote. Whenever people do that, that awful option regrettably stands an incredibly good chance.

The most memorable example of this for me (aside from the 2016 US Presidential election) will always be the 2002 French Presidential election. For this, the options were the incumbent Jacques Chirac, his sidekick, Lionel Jospin, and National Front candidate, Jean-Marie Le Pen. It was believed Le Pen didn’t stand a chance – who wants a fascist for President, right? – so the French people think they needed to vote. The result was Le Pen beat Jospin in the preliminary election to get through to the final round of voting. This shocked the French into action and Chirac won by a landslide but their initial laissez-faire attitude nearly meant a fascist taking control of their government.

In Britain we face the apparently obvious choice of Sunak and his self-serving, elitist cronies – who have crippled this country with their obscenely apparent money-grabbing ways – or frankly anyone else. Yet it is not a foregone conclusion that they won’t win. Aside from the fact that people still doubt Starmer’s credentials mean he’s a better option (even though it’s meant to be about policies not people and not a popularity contest), the polls confidently predicting Labour success  has the potential to produce the exact opposite effect to that it intends (as I fear).

Also, a big difference between us and the French election is the French get 2 goes – we don’t – that’s why we have to make it count.

So, on July 4th, it’s imperative we learn from the almost-mistake of the French. Whether or not the think the Tories stand a chance (and regardless of thoughts or opinion of Starmer and his promises), in order to make sure the Sunak et al aren’t allowed to continue running this country into the ground like it’s their own personal piggy bank – you must go out and vote. If you don’t, their supporters will – just like Le Pen’s.

Remember:
- Never take election results for granted.
- Never assume you don’t need to vote to get the result you want/expect.
- Never let those who are out to serve themselves be allowed to continue in their way unchecked and unchallenged.

And, as a helpful hint, try this website to help get the Tories out: https://tactical.vote/

From The Mind of Merc - No Trump Allowed

And March's Mind of Merc post.

Sometimes I find my mind wandering over various eclectic topics and occasionally I am inspired to write some of them down. Today I was thinking about a message and an image that needs to be everywhere - especially on the White House.

I Became VP - !!!NEW!!!

frabjous day! Callooh! Callay! The day has come and he's finally gone. What better way to celebrate that with a parody in honour of the new second-in-command.
Given her appointment can effectively be said to be thanks to the inspiration for this song's original focus, I figured it was rather apt.

I Sat On A Bus I Became VP not from Horrible Histories

I’m K Harris, Rosa’s heiress
I picked up on her old fight
Sexist bigot in charge, racist killers at large
It just was not all right
What could I do to attempt a reprieve?
Why have you heard of me?
What could one little woman achieve?
We-e-e-ell

I became VP
(You became VP?)
I became VP
(You became VP?)
You want to know how?
(Go ahead, tell me)
I became VP
(You became VP)

Since Year ‘16, when Trump took over
We faced a grim outlook
(It’s sad to see)
Black blood was spilled, and innocents killed
Yet no one brought to book
(How can it be?)
Even though I am a mixed race girl
Joe picked me as his partner
(Filled us with glee)
Trump tried to shout it’s not allowed
You’d think that he would be smarter
(No, not really)
He failed in this, still wouldn’t desist
Yet he could not beat me
Was here to stay - would persist
And so I

Became VP
(She became VP)
I became VP
(She became VP)
For all folks to see
(She won it you see)
So I was made VP
(She was made VP)

We started up a campaign to ensure a correction
To bring round all of the voters and to win the next election
The USA I’m sad to say
Was suff’ring from dejection
Cause decency was gone and prejudice was strong
(Oh, our poor nation)

We faced libel, lies and slander
Yet we kept soldiering on
Fought for the soul, to evict the troll
Just wanted Trump gone
It all came down to one big day
November the third
(Democracy)
The vote was tight even so
We had the final word
(Majority)
Our time’s come we’ve finally won
Biden now leads the country
He is the forty sixth US president

And I’m the new VP
(She became VP)
I became VP
(She became VP)
I became VP
(For you and me)
I became VP
(She became VP)
I am, I am
(Our country will see
A woman VP)
I am, I am, I’m the new VP
(We’re glad you see
She’s our new VP)
I’m VP
(She became VP
For you and me
I became VP
She became VP
She became VP)

Bye Bye Bigot - !!!NEW!!!

A little parody song to celebrate the result of the US Presidential Election.

Bye Bye Baby Bye Bye Bigot not by Bay City Rollers

We still you hate you for all that you say
Can't stand that stuff any longer
So gonna tell you go away

Bye bye bigot, bigot goodbye (bye bigot, bigot bye bye)
Bye bye bigot, your time is nigh (bye bigot, bigot bye bye)

You're the one man we never wanted
We were determined and were undaunted
We’d see you ousted
Couldn’t stand you you’re just so racist
With your Twitter you would not desist
Took so long but now you’re gone so

Bye bye bigot, bigot goodbye (bye bigot, bigot bye bye)
Bye bye bigot, your time is nigh (bye bigot, bigot bye bye)

Wish we could forget that you were here
When you leave town we all will cheer
Gee, how good it will be for we
Shouldn’t have got in last time so true
But now you’re done so won’t feel blue
You lost see and now we’re free so

Bye bye bigot, bigot goodbye (bye bigot, bigot bye bye)
Bye bye bigot, your time is nigh (bye bigot, bigot bye bye)

Bigot, bye bye (bye bigot, bigot bye bye)
Bigot, bye bye (bye bigot, bigot bye bye)
Bigot, bye bye (bye bigot, bigot bye bye)
Bigot, bye bye (bye bigot, bigot bye bye)
Bigot, bye bye (bye bigot, bigot bye bye)

F*ck You - !!!NEW!!!

This one's not much of adaptation but still a valid message so I thought I'd post it.
Lily Allen's 2009 song Fuck You was apparently written about George W. Bush. However, I figured a lot of the lyrics were still prevalent and - with a little tweaking - could easily be about the current incumbent. So tweak I did.

Fuck You not (entirely) by Lily Allen

Look inside
Look inside your tiny mind
If you even can find it
'Cause we're so uninspired
So sick and tired of all the hatred you emit

So you say
It's not okay to be gay
Well, I think you're just evil
You're just some racist whose full of disgraces
Your point of view is medieval

Fuck you (fuck you)
Fuck you very, very much
'Cause we hate what you do
And we hate your whole crew
So, please don't stay in touch

Fuck you (fuck you)
Fuck you very, very much
'Cause your words don't translate
You’re destroying the States
So, please don't stay in touch

Do you get
Do you get a little kick out of being small-minded?
Don’t want to be like Obama
(Yet) It's approval you're after
Well, that's not how you find it

Do you
Do you really enjoy living a life that's so hateful?
'Cause there's a hole where your soul should be
You're losing control, you see
And you’re really distasteful

Fuck you (fuck you)
Fuck you very, very much
'Cause we hate what you do
And we hate your whole crew
So, please don't stay in touch

Fuck you (fuck you)
Fuck you very, very much
'Cause your words don't translate
You’re destroying the States
So, please don't stay in touch

Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you
Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you
Fuck you

You say
You think the virus is a hoax
Well, we wish that you were one
'Cause it's people like you that need to get slew
No one wants your opinion

Fuck you (fuck you)
Fuck you very, very much
'Cause we hate what you do
And we hate your whole crew
So, please don't stay in touch

Fuck you (fuck you)
Fuck you very, very much
'Cause your words don't translate
And it's getting quite late
So, please don't stay in touch

Fuck you (fuck you)
Fuck you (fuck you)
Fuck you (fuck you)
Fuck you (fuck you)
Fuck you (fuck you)

President - !!!NEW!!!

I've written a new parody song about Donald Trump using Avril Lavigne's song ‘Girlfriend’ (surprisingly I didn’t have to change many of the lyrics).
I would just like to say how glad I am to live in a land which allows Freedom of Speech.

Girlfriend President not by Avril Lavigne
Hey! U! S! A!
I don’t like your President!
No way! No way!
I think you need a new one
Hey! U! S! A!
You need a new President
Hey! U! S! A!
I know you don’t like him
No way! No way!
I know it's not a secret
Hey! U! S! A!
You need a new President

Crossed the line
Out of his mind
He’s so ludicrous
You hear about him all the time
So ridiculous
Don’t you know what you can do to make it all alright (alright, alright, alright)?
Don’t pretend you don’t know he thinks he’s precious
You don’t need
Such a motherfucking princess
I can tell you hate him too and you know I’m right

He’s like so not clever
You could do so much better
I think we should get rid of him now
And that’s what everyone’s talking about!

Hey! U! S! A!
I don’t like your President!
No way! No way!
I think you need a new one
Hey! U! S! A!
You need a new President
Hey! U! S! A!
I know you don’t like him
No way! No way!
I know it's not a secret
Hey! U! S! A!
You need a new President

I can see the way, I see the way you look at him
Specially when he tweets away know you just don’t want him
Hear how they talk about him all the time again and again (again, again, again)
So come over here, (I’ll) tell you what you want to hear
How to make your President disappear
You won’t have to hear his name said not ever again (not again, not again, not again!)

He’s like so not clever
You could do so much better
I think we should get rid of him now
And that’s what everyone’s talking about!

Hey! U! S! A!
I don’t like your President!
No way! No way!
I think you need a new one
Hey! U! S! A!
You need a new President
Hey! U! S! A!
I know you don’t like him
No way! No way!
I know it's not a secret
Hey! U! S! A!
You need a new President

In a second you’ll be heading straight for world war
'Cause he don’t know what that red button’s for
Need another
So when's it gonna sink in?
He’s so stupid
What the hell were you thinking?!

In a second you’ll be heading straight for world war
'Cause he don’t know what that red button’s for
Need another
So when's it gonna sink in?
He’s so stupid
What the hell were you thinking?!

Hey! U! S! A!
I don’t like your President!
No way! No way!
I think you need a new one
Hey! U! S! A!
You need a new President
Hey! U! S! A!
I know you don’t like him
No way! No way!
I know it's not a secret
Hey! U! S! A!
You need a new President
Today! Today!

Hey! U! S! A!
I don’t like your President!
No way! No way!
I think you need a new one
Hey! U! S! A!
You need a new President
Hey! U! S! A!
I know you don’t like him
No way! No way!
I know it's not a secret
Hey! U! S! A!
You need a new President
Today! Today!

Hey! Hey!

The Presidents Song - Horrific Histories

A return to my Horrific Histories collection now (a selection of songs that I created it for Horrible Histories but never actually submitted).
A well-known (& I think popular) song from that series is the English Kings & Queens Song which cleverly fits in all the rulers of England from William I and Elizabeth. And I started to wonder whether you could do the same with the US Presidents...

The English Kings & Queens Presidents Song not by Horrible Histories

I'm Washington, my first name’s George
A true Virginian
A Founder of the USA
And the Constitution

A soldier and Republican
I set all my slaves free
Opposed to a dictatorship

But enough about me

To help remember presidents
I've come up with this song
A simple rhyming ditty
For you all to sing along

Oh, Washington
(Bit short innit? We need more names. Who came next?)

John Adams, founding father
Lived to reach his ninetieth year
I took over, Jefferson
Also a friend of Washington

Then James Madison, & Monroe
Also called James, so now you know
John Quincy Adams? He’s six
Andrew Jackson called ‘Old Hick’

Martin Van Buren, and not forgotten
The shortest rule of William Harrison

Washington, Adams, Jeff’son, Madison
Monroe, Adams, Jack-son!
Van Buren and Harrison
And now on with this song

Tyler next both sides he vexed
James Polk he did great
Taylor holds third shortest rule
Fillimore lots did hate

From Polk’s party came Franklin Pierce
Who enjoyed his drinkin’
James Buchanan and then who else
But Abraham Lincoln

When he was gone, we got Johnson
Then came Grant or Ulysees
Garfield’s twenty and next you’ll see
Mr Rutherford Hayes

Then Chester A. Arthur
Grover Cleveland’s a pain
Cause after Harrison we have
Grover Cleveland again

That’s right he had, two full terms
But they were not together
This shouldn’t be a big problem but
It spoils the numbers
But so what, much more we’ve got
Including McKinley
Now we’re up to 25 with
So much more to see

Washington, Adams, Jeff’son, Madison
Monroe, Adams, Jack-son!
(Van) Buren, Harr’son, Tyler, Polk
Taylor, Fillimore, Pierce, Buch
Lincoln, Johnson, Grant and Hayes
Garfield, Arthur, Cleveland’s one
Harrison, Cleveland’s two
McKinley and now on

Roosevelt was president next
And why we name bears Ted
When William Taft, lost power he
Was Chief Justice instead
Then war did come, yes World War One
Wilson led us through this
Harding was grim and after him
Coolidge who we don’t miss

He helped enforce, the drinking laws
Hoover fought the depression
Wall Street crashed, there’s no more cash
But did we learn our lesson?

Washington, Adams, Jeff’son, Madison
Monroe, Adams, Jack-son!
(Van) Buren, Harr’son, Tyler, Polk
Taylor, Fillimore, Pierce, Buch
Lincoln, Johnson, Grant and Hayes
Garfield, Arthur, Cleveland’s one
Harrison, Cleveland’s two
(Mc)Kinley, Roosevelt, Taft and then
Wilson, Harding, Coolidge, Hoover
More to come, it's still not over

And so began the World War Two gang
Roosevelt and Truman
Then Eisenhower soon rose to power
Cause peace was on his plan

John Kennedy died in 6 3
When shot by, an assassin
Lyndon Johnson  took on from him
Then we see the rot set in (bang on)

President Nixon was vilified (in print)
And stepped down from the presidency
Ford took the role, a long-lived soul
And Jimmy Carter’s next you see

Washington, Adams, Jeff’son, Madison
Monroe, Adams, Jack-son!
(Van) Buren, Harr’son, Tyler, Polk
Taylor, Fillimore, Pierce, Buch
Lincoln, Johnson, Grant and Hayes
Garfield, Arthur, Cleveland’s one
Harrison, Cleveland’s two
(Mc)Kinley, Roosevelt, Taft, Wilson
Harding, Coolidge, Hoover, Roosevelt

Truman, Ike, Kennedy, Johnson
Carter, Ford, Nixon
(No) Nix(on), Ford, Carter, Nix(on), Ford, Carter

(We’re into nineteen eighties, you know.)

Reagan & Bush
Clinton & Bush
Obama and Trump now
And so our US presidents
Are brought right up to now, oh

Washington, Adams, Jeff’son, Madison
Monroe, Adams, Jack-son!
(Van) Buren, Harr’son, Tyler, Polk
Taylor, Fillimore, Pierce, Buch
Lincoln, Johnson, Grant and Hayes
Garfield, Arthur, Cleveland’s one
Harrison, Cleveland’s two
(Mc)Kinley, Roosevelt, Taft, Wilson
Harding, Coolidge, Hoover, Roosevelt

Truman, Ike, Kennedy, Johnson (lord!)
Nixon, Carter, Ford,
Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush 2
Obama and with Trump we’re through

That's all the US presidents
Since Washington formed the government!
