Speech-wrecker sketch (Part 4) - Mercorabilia

Time for another speech-wrecker sketch - this one focuses on Leonidas' speech from '300'.

Leonidas: No retreat, no surrender. That is Spartan law. And by Spartan law, we will stand and fight... and die. A new age has begun: an age of freedom! And all will know that 300 Spartans gave their last breath to defend it!
Soldier: Will we? You reckon 300 soldiers are willing to die for something that doesn’t even exist yet? Don’t you think that’s a bit of a big ask? Also, if you don’t mind me saying so, it’s a bit of daft law – no retreat, no surrender. I mean what if everyone followed it? You’d never get any peace. If every time a disagreement occurred like two people colliding because they both wanted the go the same way and neither side retreated they’d die of starvation in the street. And what’s with the Braveheart bit? I mean come on – the whole ‘FREEEDOOOOOMMMM’ quote’s been done to death.
Leonidas: Kill him.
Soldier:  ‘Ulp
