From The Mind of Merc - So Many Thoughts

Sometimes I find my mind wandering over various eclectic topics and occasionally I am inspired to write some of them down. Today I was thinking about an awful lot. As I am often wont to do (despite being blonde).
I doubt I am alone in this. It is generally accepted that our mind are permanently teeming with many diverse and multitudinous thoughts. The comic perception being the women’s brains are like this:

And men’s brains are like this:

Sexist though this may be there will ultimately be some truth in it.

Men are from Mars, women are from Venus and, while it can be said that this analogy means we are still from the same solar system, we do actually have significant and distinct differences.
It is a scientific fact that women have brains that are wired to facilitate multi-tasking (leading to the oft heard remarks about men’s inability to do the same) just as it is a scientific fact that men have brains that are wired to facilitate spatial awareness (leading to the oft heard lament regarding women and parallel parking).

Nevertheless thoughts swirl round all neural networks both indeterminably and interminably. Sometimes creating so much ‘noise’ that it ironically becomes hard to think.
I have often thought how useful it would be to have a pensieve just like Albus Dumbledore in Harry Potter.
How soothing would that be to be able to remove troublesome or excessive thoughts from your mind to store them somewhere else for later reflection.
What thoughts would you store? (Ah, another thing to think about).

But then this too comes with its own potential issues – if you could remove troublesome thoughts, would you ever look back on them or would you ignore them and live in a state of denial. Would being able to separate strands make it easier to comprehend and process them or easier to procrastinate and reject them.

You see what I mean? So many thoughts… so little time.
